"A double staircase meets a narrow terrace adorned with urns and the garden sloping down to the water terrace. The themes of love and the ages of life are illustrated in three pairs of statues whose size increases the further away they are: two children, then two youths and finally Diana and Apollo. These gardens are also an oasis, for water wells up abundantly from seven springs which irrigate the Mediterranean vegetation in the grounds."
